Valor’s life may have been full of hardships, but fate has decided to step in and give him a second chance.
The pooch was found as a stray wandering the streets of Texas. Animal control officers took the homeless dog and brought him to a high-kill shelter.
Although he was still young, nobody showed any interest in adopting him. So after a few weeks, the staff included him on the list to be euthanized.
That would have been the end of his story. But somehow, the three-year-old Blue Heeler was given the wrong dosage, and he survived.
Botched attempt
Valor, along with the other dogs euthanized, was dumped in a landfill. But after a few minutes of being left there, the pooch woke up. He was most likely confused and started wandering around. Reports were sent to the shelter that a dog walked away from the landfill and they were shocked to discover that it was Valor.
Frightened and partially blind, the dog evaded all the people who tried to get him again. After several days, they were able to trap him, though.
A nonprofit charity group called Cuz i Matter Animal Rescue heard about the pup’s story and was stunned to learn that Valor survived the procedure. They were afraid the shelter would try to kill the dog again, so they reached out to the staff and asked for Valor to be given to them.
The shelter agreed.
A new home
Valor was given to an experienced volunteer and foster mom named Kathryn Lippert. She knew that the dog had undergone a lot of challenges in life and needed to be given extra love and care. The kind lady was very patient and understanding.
Valor was understandably scared and timid, but with the constant show of affection, he began to come out of his shell. The dog learned how to be a pet and became very friendly and active. After more than six months in a foster home, he finally got the forever family that he needed.
