Even puppies with the most hopeless cases can transform into something beautiful. And a dog named Denali is out to prove that. The six-month-old canine was discovered in such an unbelievably poor state, but thankfully, her rescuers did not give up on her. They did their best to give Denali another shot at life.
A naked puppy has been rescued
A shelter named San Antonio Humane Society (SAHS) recently found and rescued Denali. The rescuers discovered the pup in such a sorry state. She was completely covered in mange, and she was fur, which made her somehow naked and susceptible to infections.
The SAHS immediately took the pup under their care. They quarantined Denali, who they described as not just sad but also itchy and tiny.
Eventually, the group treated the dog’s mange. For those who don’t have an idea what mange is, it is a skin condition brought about by parasitic mites.
Because Denali had no fur, the shelter had to make sure that she would be warm and comfortable. And they did that by covering the puppy with a sweater. Her kennel was also filled with blankets and cushy towels she could cuddle with.
She’s looking for a new home
For four weeks, the recovering puppy had been receiving medicated baths regularly that would help treat her mange. As the skin disease subsided, her fresh fur started to grow.
The SAHS said that the Denali also started gaining weight and playing like a regular puppy. Her sad face was gone; in its place, a radiating smile appeared. The shelter also emphasized that Denali was full of energy.
In line with Denali’s treatment, the SAHS said that they could now take care of other dogs with serious conditions, thanks to its medical building. The said facility even had a specialized ward for dermatology where pets with contagious diseases could be treated.
Now that Denali has transformed into a beautiful dog, she is ready to find her new home. You can visit the SAHS’ Facebook page to learn more.
