When a dog lives close to a farm (or on a farm), it is likely to develop lasting friendships with the farm animals. That is why it is not unusual for a dog and a horse to become best friends this way. And this story shows the development of such a connection.
Orian was two months old when his owner permitted him to enter the stable for the first time. She wanted to bring him to work every day, so she first wanted the dog to be comfortable around the horses.
One day, the dog encountered a horse named Destiny. The two animals have been inseparable since that first encounter.
Orion and Destiny would give each other hugs whenever they had the opportunity. The dog would stand on his hind legs and use his paws to pet the horse’s face. When the dog becomes exhausted, Destiny gives him lots of licks and kisses.
It makes no difference how far away Destiny is in her pasture. If she sees Orion, she will dash towards him and interact through the fence if she is able to.
The first thing they really do in the morning is hang out with each other. They always act as if they haven’t seen each other for years, even when it’s only been a day.
After a long day, the owner would frequently go hiking with Orion and Destiny. The dog would always take the lead but would occasionally glance back to see if the horse was keeping up.
The owner is always pleased when the two animals behave as siblings. Their lives are so intertwined that they frequently share their toys. Occasionally though, they do not feel like sharing, especially if it is food.
Despite his small size, Orion enjoys playing the role of protector. When changing Destiny’s shoes, Orion would sit next to her, making her feel secure. The only thing the dog wants is for the horse to feel safe and content.
