A lot of canines have been hailed as heroes for going the extra mile in saving people’s lives. This is most probably one of the many reasons why people would say that we really don’t deserve dogs – they’re just too good for us.
Oftentimes, you may hear stories about heroic dogs and one of the most recent ones had just occurred on the 14th of December last year. Jeff and Kelly Dowling, a couple with a 9-month-old baby, were quite upset. Their baby girl was sick and inconsolable that night. Since they weren’t able to give her comfort and make her fall asleep, they tried to keep Henry, their pet dog, away just so she could have some uninterrupted sleep.
The tiny Boston Terrier happens to be the baby girl’s best friend, so he was a bit worried about her being sick. He wanted to always be in her presence to make sure she was alright. Though the couple could understand how Henry felt, they still didn’t allow the pup anywhere near their daughter.
But for some odd reason, the pup didn’t seem to cooperate. Henry kept on barging and headbutting the closed door of the baby’s room. At first, Kelly and Jeff were annoyed. But little did they know that little Henry had a reason for doing so.
It turned out, Henry was able to sense something wrong with the baby, so he was actually trying to warn the couple. When both parents checked on their daughter, they realized she was already turning blue and was having difficulty in breathing.
The couple hurriedly rushed their daughter to the nearest children’s Hospital. As soon as doctors were able to help clear the baby’s airways, she was able to breathe easily and they were told to go home that night.
The Dowlings had come to realize what Henry had been trying to tell them all this time, that’s why they are so grateful to him for saving their daughter’s life. As the couple has admitted, they couldn’t imagine what would have happened if Henry hadn’t warned them.
