The charitable animal rescue group known as Hope For Paws received a call about a homeless puppy running down the streets in South LA. Fortunately, Good Samaritans Renee Hunter and Terri Rogers managed to bring the dog in. They cared for the animal while they waited for the rescuers to arrive.
Rescue partners Katie McKittrick and JoAnn Wiltz drove to Renee and Terri’s home to secure the young dog. Renee welcomed the pair and led them to the puppy they named Sassy.
Terri joined the three women and told the rescuers that given a choice, she didn’t want Sassy to go. However, she and Renee agreed that the dog would be better off to a nice home. They did what they could to treat the puppy’s yeast and bacterial infection but they knew it needed a medical expert’s care. Sadly, they didn’t have the financial capacity to take it to the vet.
Because of Renee and Terri’s care, Sassy felt comfortable and showed a lot of trust in people. She readily accepted the Lucky Leash that Katie put on her. She also happily ate the food the rescuers gave her.
Renee and Terri wanted to keep Sassy but they knew it wasn’t a choice they could make. With a heavy heart, they helped load Sassy onto JoAnn and Katie’s car. They bid their goodbye and wished the puppy a great life.
Sassy went to CARES Veterinary Facility for a full medical check-up. The vets confirmed that the home remedies she received completely healed her skin infections. She was in perfect shape, thanks to Renee and Terri.
Completely free from her skin concerns and feeling fresh from her bath, the young dog showed much appreciation to her rescuers. She was so happy and she just can’t get the smile off her face.
Sassy spent some time in her foster home while her rescuers searched for her adoptive family. In no time, she met her new mom and dad. Sassy now happily resides in her new home, and she couldn’t be happier with how things worked out for her.
