Meet Myko, a rescue dog who can be quite sensitive and anxious at times.
His parents have always seen him as special. It seems that he feels things more strongly than do other dogs. However, this also means that he has lots of anxieties and fears.
According to Myko’s mom, Elena, some of his fears include fireworks, ceiling fans, water, any loud sound — and the list goes on and on. His family never knows what they might run into that may set off a response from Myko.
His family wished that there could be something that would help Myko to calm down during his anxiety. Fortunately, they found his blanket.
After a few months since the family rescued Myko, they gave him a blue blanket, which used to be a throw blanket that the family kept in their living room.
Although he had his own things, Myko would usually pull this blankie off and drag it around. And that’s when the family realized that the pooch likes it.
Elena thinks Myko likes that particular blanket because they had used it for some time and still probably smelled like them. They cover or tuck Myko in with the blue blankie, or sometimes, he will grab it and bring it somewhere in the house.
At first, the rescue dog would only grab the blanket whenever he was anxious or scared. But now, he uses it or carries it around whenever and wherever.
There are times when Myko only carries the blue blankie and ensures it is near him. Other times, he wants it draped over his body as he walks around their home. It serves as his special cape, keeping him safe from any scary thing.
Elena said that, at times, they find Myko sitting by the window with his favorite blankie on his back. When he has the blanket on his back, the pooch gets up and walks around with it.
Myko gets anxious about some things, but that is all right, so long as his blue blankie is there.
