Eric Maus is a dog walker who lives in Brooklyn, New York. He regularly takes his clients’ pets to Prospect Park. One day, while walking two dogs, he came across a large pit bull tied to a tree. The young man looked around and saw no one who could possibly be with the pudgy pooch.
He sensed that something might be wrong with the situation. So he went closer to the dog. Eric was half expecting the pit bull to stand up and growl.
He was pleasantly surprised that the dog didn’t even bother to move. She had her tongue out, and it also seemed that the canine was smiling.
Mamas
Eric looked around for clues to the dog’s identity and saw a note stuck to a tree. It said that the pit bull’s name is Mamas, she is seven years old, and despite her large size, she is a sweet and great pooch. The note also pleaded with anyone who read it to take the pit bull home.
The dog walker’s suspicions were confirmed. Mamas was abandoned by her owner. The kind guy didn’t want to leave the dog alone as the park was unsafe for such a gentle domesticated creature. Anyone could just pick her up.
Eric decided to take a photo of Mamas and posted it on a neighborhood Facebook group. He asked for advice from the group members. It didn’t take long for responses to come in. One man offered to pick the dog up and take her to a nearby shelter.
A total sweetheart
Eric led the large pooch out of the park to meet the Good Samaritan. It took quite a while because Mamas had some difficulty walking due to her size. Once she was at the shelter, a vet checked on her, and despite being overweight, she was given a clean bill of health.
Mamas will stay at the facility until the mandatory hold period is over. She has become quite popular with the workers and volunteers due to her loving nature. Because of her character, they are very confident that she will easily find a new forever home once she is up for adoption.
