A rescuer named Danny heard about a dog that has lived in a church parking lot for over three years. Danny knew that three years was too long for any dog not to have a home or a reliable source of food and water. He immediately went to the location to get the canine.
When Danny got there, he was surprised that the dog, Dixie, was quite friendly. Dixie did not hesitate to eat the hotdog from Danny’s hand. That initial contact made Danny believe that it was going to be an easy rescue.
He couldn’t be further from the truth. The moment he tried to hold Dixie, Dixie ran away.
Danny suddenly realized that he wouldn’t be able to get her that day, so he left. He went back to the church parking lot the next day.
He thought that since Dixie already saw him from the day before, she would trust him more. She didn’t. She avoided Danny that afternoon.
She kept avoiding him every time he attempted to come near her. When she finally ran off to a fenced property, Danny knew it would be tough to get her.
It was challenging because Danny could not get inside the property. He needed to get the owner’s permission first. When Danny returned the next day, the dog was still inside the fenced property.
He also found other rescuers who were trying to rescue the canine. These rescuers already asked permission from the property owner.
This allowed them to enter the property. Danny was thankful for it and decided to help them save Dixie. They set up a trap, and Dixie was finally rescued.
Danny was grateful that Dixie was finally off the streets. She was brought to a foster family that gave her everything that she needed. Danny was pleased about Dixie’s new life.
