Stray dogs live a hard life. They scavenge for food to survive, are forced to find shelter anywhere, and are constantly in danger of getting hit by cars. Imagine what life would be really like for a stray dog that just gave birth to a litter of puppies?
A dog named Bennie was found hiding in a hole on the ground in Tijuana, Mexico. She was forced to give birth outside since she doesn’t have a family to rely on. When animal rescuers found Bennie, her body was curled up inside the tiny hole to protect her puppies.
Her rescuers suspected that Bennie have never been in a home before. Thankfully, that was going to change. Ever since Bennie and her puppies were rescued, she and her puppies have been given only the best care. Bennie was tired from giving birth and she barely had any food since she has to nurse her puppies and keep them safe.
Bennie’s rescuers were working hard to find a forever home for Bennie and her puppies. However, after visiting a veterinarian, Bennie was diagnosed with TVT, which is cancer. The animal rescue organization that was taking care of Bennie immediately started getting Bennie treated.
Thankfully, the cancer was caught early and was able to get stronger. Bennie spent her entire life not having a bath and when she was given one by her foster family, she was completely a new dog. She felt great and she also learned what it’s like to be a part of a family.
Usually, the mama dogs are the ones that are the last to get adopted. However, after Bennie’s puppies were weaned, she was the first one to get adopted by an amazing family who adores her and truly loves her. Bennie’s new mom, Erin, thinks that Bennie’s special.
The first time that Bennie came home to her new family, Erin’s kids started sleeping beside Bennie, which ultimately became their new habit. Bennie took on the role of Erin’s children’s nanny and protector. Erin thought that it’s really sweet that Bennie instantly fell in love with her children.
All of Bennie’s puppies were adopted by loving families. Bennie now has an amazing life, which makes it hard to believe that she spent her entire life as a stray in Mexico. Here’s a heartwarming video featuring Bennie’s story and how she found her forever home.
