Nina Love, a rescuer, knew she didn’t have time to spare when she received a message on Facebook about a pit bull left beside the railroad tracks. She quickly gathered her belongings and requested aid from a friend and fellow rescuer for this mission.
The enormous dog was easy to identify on the tracks, but she was difficult to trap. Nina’s adrenaline was pumping as she followed the dog for three miles along the railroad tracks. She knew the train was coming soon, and she just had only 10 to 15 minutes to get the dog off the tracks before the train came and tragedy happened.
Despite the fact that she was clearly endangering her own life, she couldn’t give up as she stared into the pit bull’s eyes.
Nina admitted that she was terrified but still wanted to help the unfortunate dog. She kept her distance and waited, knowing that the dog was simply afraid.
Fortunately, Nina’s rescue partner had brought her own dog, Teddy, to the scene, and the presence of another dog made the stray dog feel more at ease.
They went low, according to Nina, and the other rescuer talked to the stray pit bull while her dog approached. Nina’s companion soon was able to hold the pittie until Nina came up behind her and put a leash on her.
A train soon approached while they were still on the railroad tracks. They were fortunate that they were able to get off the tracks in time. The train arrived seconds after they caught the pit bull, and their adrenaline was so high that they didn’t even hear the horn blaring.
Nina couldn’t keep back her tears as the sense of relief that came over her was so strong.
Nina is still on the lookout for a foster family to help the stray recover from her ordeal. The puppy is lucky that Nina was there to assist her and she now gets the love and care she deserves after what happened.
