Dogs are sometimes naughty. They love playing outside the house and frolicking under the sun. While doing so, they sometimes get into trouble.
But, to be fair, it isn’t always their fault. Duke, a fluffy chow, found himself in a pickle and did nothing but remain his lovely, cheerful self.
The story starts when Duke comes home after his stroll in the yard. His owner stopped what she was doing to check on the dog. Upon checking, she saw a brown thing stuck on the chow’s fur. That was when she decided to record the whole thing.
In the video posted by the Duke of Hawthorn’s account on Tiktok, the dog was walking while a strange brown object was hanging on his fur. When his owner looked closer, she realized it was a baby possum.

It turns out that the possum was a native of Australia. It’s a little larger than possums found in the United States.
Using a towel, Duke’s owner wiggled and tugged the possum gently to take it away from the dog. After a while, the owner could take the little animal off Duke. Shen then showed the possum to the dog to say hi. After a few moments, she released it to find its biological family.
Duke, on the other hand, was perplexed with the possum leaving. He was surprised that his mother took away from him his recently adopted baby.
In the comment section of the Tiktok video, Duke’s mom said that the chow was disappointed since they didn’t get to keep the possum. She also clarified that Duke didn’t try to bite the possum because he’s used to being kind.
It’s always heartwarming to see stories of animals helping each other out, even if they’re not of the same species. Duke is excellent proof that large dogs can be gentle and loving to other animals despite their size and territorial nature.
