Some people may believe that being an animal rescuer is a simple job. However, those of us who read and see a lot of videos about animal rescue operations could tell that what they are doing is no easy task. Not only must they be patient when rescuing animals, but they must also be cautious.
Stray dogs dislike strangers, therefore if a person approaches them, the dog will run away. If they are cornered, they are likely to bite. Therefore, we should be grateful for animal rescuers like Danny Spanks who have chosen to devote their lives to rescuing stray dogs.
Danny rescued a pit bull that had been homeless for almost 15 months. Danny is one of the founders of the A Safefurr Animal Rescue in Bakersfield, California. The rescue group learned about this pit bull a while ago. The sad dog was apparently abandoned by her callous owners after she gave birth to a litter of puppies.
Many people wanted to save the dog, but she was quite fearful of humans. Every time someone approached her, she would run and hide. Fortunately, Danny knew precisely what to do.
When the rescuer got to the pit bull’s location, he discovered that she had been lying beneath solar panels, which had kept her warm. Passersby have also been feeding her, which is why she was still alive.
Danny decided to call her “Mama” because her children were cruelly taken from her. That is why Danny had to gradually earn her trust.
First, he placed some dog food in an improvised feeding station made from old bed mattresses he discovered on the property. Danny then laid out food trails leading him to make Mama adapt to his presence.
Mama showed Danny her desire to play after a few weeks, and this was an indication of progress.
Danny was soon able to set up a large trap to rescue Mama with the support of other rescue organizations. He then placed dog food inside the trap so that she would not be afraid of it.
Once captured, Mama’s expression was glum. She may have been confused as to why she was captured.
Danny spent time with her daily so that she could adjust more easily to her new life as a shelter dog.
