Animal shelters all over the country are already flooded with abandoned and homeless dogs. Every year, millions of dogs and other animals enter the shelters with roughly 1.5 million of them getting euthanized. It’s sad to think that many dogs are needlessly put to sleep when they can be adopted into loving forever homes.
Thankfully, animal rescue organizations are operating all over the country that is dedicated to finding forever homes for these poor animals. One of these amazing organizations is Hope For Paws. Ever since Eldad founded his rescue organization, he has helped countless dogs and other animals find forever homes.
One of the most memorable and heartwarming rescues that Eldad did with his organization was for an abused Maltese-Poodle mix named Edie. Before she was rescued by Hope For Paws, Edie was held at a kill shelter in Los Angeles. Edie was terrified of human contact and would try to bite anyone who would come near her.
Edie was labeled to be too aggressive to be adopted and was put on the euthanasia list. Thankfully, Eldad heard about Edie through his friend and they stepped in to save Edie’s life. Hours before Edie was scheduled to be euthanized, Eldad pulled Edie from the shelter.
At first, Edie was so terrified of Eldad and she was barking nonstop. It was suspected that Edie had been severely abused by her previous owners, which is why she was acting so fearful around humans. In the video, Eldad pulled Edie onto his lap. Despite Edie howling in terror, Edie soothed her by petting her.
Edie eventually realized that Eldad wasn’t there to hurt her. It was the first time in a long time that she felt kindness from a human being and when she realized this, she instantly melted into Eldad. Edie even gave doggie kisses to Eldad to show how grateful she is.
It turns out that all Edie needed is hugs and love to assure her that everything was going to be alright. It’s amazing to see how rapid Edie’s transformation was and it’s hard to believe that a simple hug can change Edie into the most loving dog. Here’s a heartwarming video showing Edie’s rescue and how Eldad helped her trust humans again.
