Stephanie Herfel is a fur parent to an adorable Husky named Sierra. Sierra became part of Stephanie’s life ever since the pooch was still a puppy. For Stephanie, Sierra is one of the best gifts she ever had in her lifetime.
But more than this, Stephanie mentioned that Sierra is the reason for her second life. The fur parent is a cancer survivor, particularly from ovarian cancer. If not for the dog’s intervention, Stephanie would not have known about her illness.
According to Stephanie, each time there was a recurrence, it was Sierra who alerted her about the warning signs. Stephanie shared that Sierra would often place her nose on her abdomen. The dog would repeat this many times, but Stephanie just shrugged it off. To her mind, it could just be a normal reaction from the pooch.
But it dawned on Stephanie that she had to go a medical expert when she felt pain in her abdomen. The doctor then made several tests and found out that Stephanie had an ovarian cyst. From there, Stephanie finally realized that Sierra sniffed her stomach because there was something wrong inside her body.
With this, Stephanie had to undergo treatment for the cyst. She was treated because the cancer was detected in its early stage, and a half year later, the disease was in remission. However, cancer would strike again, recurring three times after her initial diagnosis. Through Sierra’s keen sense of smell, Stephanie already knows that whenever the dog sniffs her belly, it is a warning.
Stephanie proved this claim because each time she had a recurrence, the dog would be the first one to know it. This is why Stephanie is so thankful for the presence of the pooch because it was Sierra who saved her multiple times already. More than this, Stephanie is lucky to have a loyal and friendly dog in Sierra.
