A mobile grooming service called Barkbus was established upon the idea of providing an easier life for dogs, and they’re doing everything they can to make sure they follow through on that mission. So every month, their employees do a monthly visit with the canines of Foxy and the Hounds, a Los Angeles-based organization, to give dogs under their care with services such as free haircuts, blowouts, and more!
Jeff Safenowitz, the CEO of Barkbus, said in an interview that he and his co-founder are dog-loving entrepreneurs and creatives who only wanted what’s best for their dogs. They wish to provide pets and their owners a stress-free grooming experience from their personal traumatic experiences of salon trips with their dogs.
To highlight what makes them stand out compared to other pet salons, Safenowitz says that theirs is a one-on-one from start to finish with no other dogs and kennels or cages, which minimizes the unnecessary stresses of the grooming experience. He also adds that not only is their entire encounter a fraction of the overall grooming time, but they are also located right outside their client’s homes so that their pet parents can check on their babies anytime they want to!
And for more of their stand-out features, the services of Barkbus are not just limited to pets who already belong to a family. The brand also exerts an effort to cater to shelter pets. One of their active partners is a nonprofit organization called Foxy and the Hounds, which aims to rescue and rehabilitate all injured, neglected, and abused dogs.
Safenowitz shares that they are huge fans of Terri Fox and Foxy and the Hounds because of the laudable work in rescuing dogs regardless of their breed, size, and age, who are often overlooked. He says that they reach out to establish a relationship with them and checks if Barkbus can offer a way to support their mission of saving dogs and finding them permanent homes. According to the CEO, Barkbus and Foxy and the Hounds developed free grooming services for the shelter’s rescue pets.
He says that a part of the onboarding process for any Barkbus employee includes asking the teammates to bathe, groom and support Foxy and the Hounds’ rescue dogs for a day. Their ulterior motive is to help these dogs look and feel their best, possibly allowing them to find a forever home—which means giving them stylish haircuts, luxurious baths, and brush outs!
Also, Safenowitz mentions how dogs with disabilities have specific grooming needs. He particularly notes wheel-chair-bound canines, where regular grooming is vital to their general health and wellbeing. He says that Barkbus services allow these darling tykes to spend more time doing what they love best: playing fetch and eating treats!
And despite the numerous free-of-charge monthly spa services that they provided these rescue dogs, Barkbus hopes to do more. They are planning to expand their operations across the southern California area and look out to give back to the communities under their service. After all, Safenowitz says they are dog lovers at heart who believe that all dogs deserve a chance at finding loving homes. He says that they are glad that the Barkbus experience plays a role in helping these dogs find happiness, be instrumental in growing the families of pet-parents.
