Carter, a woman who fosters dogs, was on her veranda, taking pictures of her pregnant dog, Poppy. Then, without warning, Poppy went into labor while sitting on a chair. Carter knew that she needed to act fast, so she picked up the dog and carried her inside the house.
She helped Poppy deliver the puppies, and after they were born, Carter checked on each of them and found that they were all healthy. Carter also gave Poppy a body massage and a warm milk bath as a reward for successfully delivering her pups. A new mother dog will be out of energy after a long labor and delivery.
To help them, you have to make sure that the mother dog has a safe place to rest. You should provide her with a warm, comfortable bed that she can sleep in while the puppies sleep. If there are multiple puppies, try not to keep them out of the sunlight and extreme temperatures because it could affect their health.
You should also check on the puppies from time to time and give them food and water as needed. You must make sure that your dog has enough food in her system so that she can produce milk for her puppies, especially if they’re going through a growth spurt or teething stage. Once they start eating solid food, you must introduce it slowly so as not to upset their stomachs or cause diarrhea or vomiting, which could lead to dehydration for both mother and pups.
Remember to give the puppies a few days to rest before playing with them. Also, keep in mind that you should gently play with them since they are still very young and fragile. You should never throw balls or toys at them since this could injure them badly or even kill them if they fall on hard surfaces like concrete or tiles.
