Nail trimming is one of the most dreaded tasks of dog owners. It’s almost impossible to keep them still, even for just a few minutes. And bloody paws are what we want to avoid at all costs.
It’s not surprising how creative dog owners can get when the situation calls for it. But most of those tricks they try often don’t work. So you have to think of a good strategy.
In Virginia, a dog dad discovered the perfect tool to distract his beloved dog. Greg Lee tried all the old school tricks of trimming dogs’ nails. But all of those don’t work with his 90lbs Rhodesian Ridgeback named Jax.
It is a common fact that such breeds need constant nail trimming. Since Rhodesian Ridgeback are meant to be outside runners, their nails grow back really fast.
Every two weeks, their nails need to be trimmed. It won’t be ideal to trim their nails for more than two weeks because it would be like grinding a stone. That’s a lot of hard work on the part of the owner.
After a couple of failed distractions, Lee finally found a way to make his life easier. Using his bald head and a can of Cheez Whiz, he devised a perfect solution to keep Jax still.
Every two weeks, Lee would sacrifice his bald head to trim Jax’s nails. He would lather Cheez Whiz on his head. This way, Jax gets distracted with the food, and he can finally focus on his task.
The idea came about when her daughter brought a toy to help with the nail trimming situation. But the toy did not do anything good at all. Her daughter jokingly said to put Cheese Whiz in his head so Jax can lick it off. Who would have thought the idea would be the answer to their long-time dilemma?
Well, having no hair does have its perks. We are looking forward to more innovations like this.
