Meet Lion, an eleven-year-old Golden Retriever who is battling cancer, which is the sole reason why he is in a wheelchair. He lives with his family and his best friend Taiia, who is also a Golden Retriever, in a bed and breakfast in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. His life would have been perfect if not for his condition.
However, Lion didn’t let his current situation stop him from living his life to the fullest. Although he couldn’t enjoy walking around with his legs, he didn’t let his wheelchair ruin the fun. And he proved this on one sunny day in January when he took a dip in the pool even in his wheelchair.
When Lion saw Taiia chilling in the pool, he thought he should take a dip too. Although the wheelchair was such a burden, the determined Golden Retriever was all smiles while he made his way to the pool. He couldn’t just let her have all of the fun, so he dived without thinking twice.
Monica, Lion’s babysitter, was the first one to notice the dog’s intention and hurriedly tried to catch up to him. She was worried that Lion might get hurt since the wheelchair was still attached to him. But, it was all too late since Lion had already made a mad dash toward the pool, plowing over a pool-side chair and taking it with him.
All the babysitter could reach was the pool-side chair, while Lion went straight into the pool. As soon as Lion was in the water, he tried to wiggle out of his wheelchair. He then swam into Taiia’s direction with a proud and happy expression in his face.
Lion’s funny wheelchair somersault into the pool was caught in a video, which was later posted on Instagram and went viral. Indeed, his name Lion suits him because of his strong and persistent personality. This adorable dog teaches everyone the importance of having courage, no matter the obstacles.
