Hey! I Smell Food!
Dogs will eat just about anything they can get their paws on. We can all relate to the regret we have when food left unattended becomes an easy target. Once our back turns, stealthy dogs are at work, and they’re even quieter as they munch away in delight.
Our realization of error comes too late, and our dogs give us the classic, indignant ‘not guilty’ expression. But once we inquire, they contradict themselves with their slow walk of shame, and tails tucked as they slink away. Although we disapprove, we love them all the same.
In this amusing story, two dogs steal the mail lady’s food!
The Heist
In Smithfield, Virginia, a postal carrier delivers a package to a five-acre farm property. Two dogs cleverly hop into her truck as the delivery takes place. Upon returning to her vehicle, she notices her partially eaten lunch.
These dogs might have made a clean getaway had it not been for a few straggling carrots in the yard. The carrots weren’t to their liking.
Carol Jordan, the owner, later discovers a note in her mailbox from the postman. What she reads has her blush in embarrassment. Her Labrador Mastiff mixes are at it again.

Carol’s two dogs, Bear and Bull, are 6-year-old siblings. Her husband rescues them from a North Carolina kill shelter as puppies. According to Carol, Bull, the smaller of the two, is quite the instigator.
Surprisingly, the carrier’s letter expresses concern for the dogs’ welfare. In it, she mentions several food items she thinks might be harmful to the dogs.
Lunch? What Lunch?
While Carol appreciates the goodwill of the mail carrier, she won’t let Bear and Bull off the hook so easy. Carol has ongoing suspicions about the pair, saying how they always seem to be up to something.
As punishment, she snaps a mugshot of these two dogs with the caption ‘we owe you lunch.’ She posts the image on social media.
After this, Carol buys a gift card to Subway. She leaves the gift card at the post office, addressed to Mary, their carrier. She also offers a letter of apology, written from the perspective of the little rascals.

Carol later posts a copy of the apology letter to Facebook as well, documenting the whole experience. Her posts have since gone viral, with people reacting around the world.
She mentions that if her dogs only knew how popular they are, they’d likely demand the high life, with everything served up on a silver platter.
But, for this pet mother and her kid doggos, the standard routines are still in order. As she says, those two goofs are always up to no good.
