Amy Collins has a pet named Harley. Harley is a Dalmatian who gives birth to 12 puppies. Amy and her family decided to give the eleven puppies away and kept the most extraordinary and adorable pup. They named her “Muff” because, unlike any Dalmatian, she has cute brown ears resembling earmuffs.
Amy gives birth to twin girls, and as a mom, she wants them to grow up together with Muff. Everyone adored and loved Muff so much since she was part of the family. One day, Harley and Muff didn’t go home.
Amy was so worried because May was a tornado season in Oklahoma, and she heard that the tornado was going to strike that day, and it wasn’t perfect. She loves her pets like her own and doesn’t want to lose them! Harley is old enough to care for herself, but Muff is just a pup! She is helpless. She searched and waited for them to come home, but there was no sign of Harley or Muff.
The tornado was gone, so she looked for her pets around the town and called Animal shelters, but there was no good news or leads where they might be. She hoped that one day, Muff and Harley would go home like every dog did when they got lost.
Her family moved to a new house 15 miles from their old one. Years passed, but Amy still thinks about her lost dogs; even though her kids got two new dogs, a Labrador retriever, and a Dachshund, to play with, she still gets excited and hopeful whenever she sees a Dalmatian around. After six long years, Amy’s mom and her sister told her to check the Rocky Spot Rescue website, which is hosting an open adoption, because they saw a familiar dog.
Her heart leaped with joy when she saw the photo of a dog named Ginger. She looks like Muff! A Dalmatian with brown ears that look like earmuffs. Hope filled their hearts, though it was possible that this dog was not the one they sought.
They still decided to check with the hope in their hearts. Amy asked to see Ginger, but the volunteer stated that the dog was unavailable for adoption since she was recuperating from being bitten by another dog. Seeing the dogs in the distance, Ginger stands out among all Dalmatians as she is the only one with brown ears.
Much to her surprise, as soon as she called for her “Muff,” Ginger barked happily, wagging her tail and trying to climb the fence to reach her. Everyone got emotional when she licked Amy’s face since Ginger was usually shy and did not react to anybody. Muff nuzzled Amy’s chest like she had just returned from a long vacation.
After six years of being separated, they finally went home with Ginger. Rocky Spot rescued Ginger from other animal shelters the day when she was scheduled to be euthanized. Ginger’s first adopted parent couldn’t take care of her after she got hit by a car and got a broken hip. Her second owner moved and left her tied to a tree. Ginger got a lot of trauma from her experiences that Amy could not believe.
Amy got her back with their two other dogs, and they called her Ginger now, but she will always be Muff for her. That Easter Sunday, they went for a walk. Ginger kept close to her, walking together, and sometimes looked at Amy as if she really couldn’t believe to see each other again.
Amy still remembers that day when the tornado happened and how she tirelessly looked for them and shouted their names. Together with the rising wind and prayers, she believed that only He could make her dog safe, and her prayers had been answered. She’s finally home.
