Laurette Nicoll is a cancer survivor who lives in California. Her battle with ovarian cancer required multiple chemo and radiation therapy sessions. Like the trooper she is, she faced all these challenges with a smile on her face. And the tough lady credits her dogs for helping her through those difficult times.
Especially a former stray dog named Georgia.
Friendly pooch
While Laurette was walking in her yard one day, she noticed a dog push her body under her chainlink fence. When the stray pooch saw her, the friendly intruder went straight to Laurette. The dog stood in front of her and kept looking at her face. She was very hungry for attention.
Laurette played with the dog for a while, amazed at how friendly the black mutt was. Curious, she called her neighbor, and that is when she learned that the pooch was homeless and had been temporarily staying next door. They also named her Georgia.
The amused lady returned the amiable pup to her neighbor and thought nothing more. But the very next day, the dog was back. Laurette returned her once again, and Georgia came right back. She started feeling that the two of them had a connection.
Part of the family
After Georgia’s third visit, Laurette decided to let her stay for the night. The dog was thrilled. She looked so happy and content with the family. The next day, Laurette called her neighbor and told them that she had fallen in love with the dog and would like to adopt her. They immediately agreed.
Georgia has never left their home ever again. She even helped Laurette complete her bucket list. The cancer survivor has always dreamt of riding a motorcycle with a sidecar. She now gets to do that with the perfect companion by her side, a former stray that stole her heart.
