Dogs going after the balls used in professional sports shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. Clearly, our furry companions are ignorant of professional sports. They only know that if they see a bouncing ball, they must go after it.
It is one of the things we enjoy most about our dogs – they are constantly eager to play. Therefore, whenever we bring them to such events, we must grip their leash tightly to prevent any ball-chasing problems. Unfortunately, the human in charge of the lively dog in this story did not receive the memo.
During a close game of women’s cricket in Ireland, an inquisitive dog appeared from nowhere and stole the ball that the players were using. It was during the All-Ireland T20 Cup encounter between the Civil Service North of Ireland Cricket Club (CSNI) and the Bready Cricket Club that this entire thing happened.
After a CSNI batter hit the ball, a Bready fielder went after it, and as soon as she had it in her possession, the dog appeared! The fielder tossed the ball to the keeper, who attempted to remove the bails, or wooden poles, to prevent the opposing team from scoring.
Nonetheless, the Bready goalkeeper missed the bails, and the ball went toward the dog! The dog, who obviously wanted to have the ball, immediately snatched it and went around the field! This resulted in the players and match officials pursuing this unruly dog. It was definitely a spectacle and people were entertained!
The television analysts covering the event could not help but giggle at what they saw. Who would not find the entire thing to be funny?
The amusing video was actually released on Twitter, and as expected, netizens from all around the world went absolutely bonkers! A number of them even proposed signing the dog as a fielder.
