Most people would think that cats and dogs can’t get along. However, you’ll be surprised to know that some cats and dogs actually live in the same house peacefully. There’s even a pit bull named Charlie that became best friends with a cat.
Before Charlie was adopted by a woman named Maaria, Charlie was abandoned by his previous family for not being mean enough. A lot of people think that pit bulls are mean and aggressive dogs that will attack anyone that it sees. On the contrary, pit bulls are actually good dogs with a temperament that is suitable for all types of families.
The first person who owned Charlie was a 16-year-old boy who only wanted Charlie to show off to his friends. The boy thought that getting a pit bull would make him look tough within his peers. The boy even abused Charlie by hitting him and letting him go hungry to toughen him up.
However, Charlie remained sweet and loving that the boy decided to surrender Charlie to a shelter. And, because Maaria lived in the UK, pit bulls and other dogs that look like pit bulls are euthanized because of a law that bans people from owning a pit bull. Charlie was at risk of being deemed dangerous because of the way he looks.
Thankfully, Maaria found out about Charlie and drove 200 miles and brought him back home with her. Maaria’s still worried that Charlie could be taken away from her. So, Maaria had Charlie’s DNA tested. When the DNA test result came back, it turned out that Charlie is a Staffie cross Rottweiler, which isn’t classified as pit bull in the UK.
Maaria’s neighbor even asked her why she would entrust Charlie alone with a cat in the house. Maaria’s neighbor also commented that Charlie might hurt or even kill Maaria’s cat. However, Charlie always loved other animals. Charlie would spend a lot of time grooming Maaria’s cat and cuddling on the couch.
To prove her point, Maaria took a photo of Charlie and the cat cuddling on the couch and sent the photo to her neighbor. Charlie is an adorable dog who just loves people and other animals. When Maaria’s cat passed away, Charlie was the most affected member of the family.
Luckily for Charlie, Maaria also fosters cats. Charlie helps to look after the foster cats and even grooms the little ones and let them cuddle with him. Here’s a heartwarming video showing how Charlie overcame the stereotype that dogs like him are unsuitable as pets and are dangerous dogs.
