Hope For Paws volunteer workers Lisa Arturo and JoAnn Wiltz came to the aid of a dog that walked into a rarely utilized industrial zone. When the property closed, the pooch, unfortunately, got left behind. It needed help getting out, as inside, it didn’t have access to food or water.
Lisa and JoAnn immediately looked for a way to get the dog out when they arrived. Neighbors mentioned that the location rarely opens, so the women knew they had to think of another way other than the main entrance to get the pooch out. Luckily, Lisa spotted a narrow gap on the surrounding fence.
Lisa guided the dog towards the gap by offering it food. Famished, the pooch went for it and even tried to squeeze through the opening to eat from Lisa’s hand. Unfortunately, it proved too big to fit through.
The rescuers then tried contacting the property manager, but they learned the earliest he can get there was the next day. Lisa and JoAnn, unfortunately, had to leave. However, they made sure the pup had ample food and water for the time being.
Lisa and JoAnn arrived the next day, along with the property manager. They successfully gained the dog’s trust and got close to it once they entered. They immediately noticed that the pooch suffered from multiple injuries, so they knew it needed medical attention as soon as possible.
Lisa opted to use the humane trap to secure the dog instead of the gentle snare due to its wounds. Once in the trap, they loaded the pooch into their vehicle with the property manager’s help. After thanking the man, the rescuers whisked the poor pup to the hospital.
On the way to the hospital, Lisa named the dog, a female, Elsa. Elsa received treatment for her injuries, and once physically recovered, went to foster with Wags and Walks. Elsa has now fully overcome her trying experience, and eagerly awaits getting stuck at home with her forever family.
