Vehicles pose a significant danger to homeless dogs. Getting hit by a moving car lead to severe injuries and on unfortunate occasions, even death to strays. Thankfully, Good Samaritans still exist to help injured animals in traffic.
Hope For Paws received an urgent text about a stray dog. The text mentioned that the pooch suffered severe injuries after getting hit by a car. Eldad Hagar and Loreta Frankonyte immediately went on the scene to bring the pup to the hospital.
Eldad and Loreta promptly saw Noelle Hetzel, the person who contacted Hope For Paws, sitting beside the injured dog when they arrived. Eldad tried to gain the pooch’s trust straight away, wanting it to be comfortable with him despite the pain. Eldad noted that the dog felt cold to the touch and can’t even stand, making him realize how bad its condition is.
Loreta gently placed the Lucky Leash on the dog. Along with Eldad and Noelle, the rescuers carefully placed a towel underneath the pooch so they can move it safely. Eldad then slowly carried the pup into their vehicle.
The rescuers quickly whisked the injured dog to the hospital. When they got there, the pooch immediately received medical attention. Loreta decided to name the pup, a female, Honey Pepper.
Honey Pepper underwent an X-ray to determine the extent of her injuries. The doctors found out that she suffered from a broken pelvis as well as a shattered tibia and fibula. Eldad knew that usually, with such extensive injuries, amputation is the only option.
Amazingly, however, Doctor Antonio Pedraza successfully repaired the broken bones and saved Honey Pepper from losing a limb. Noelle, knowing how expensive the surgery is, raised funds for it by body painting the Lucky Leash pattern on a model. She covered more than a thousand dollars of the dog’s medical expenses with the money she earned.
After two months of recovery, Honey Pepper moved to foster with L.A. Animal Rescue. She gradually recovered her jovial nature as well. She now looks forward to finding her forever home.
