Those who served in the military know that it’s not always easy to fit into civilian life once again. Fortunately for a military retiree named Palace, he had a robust support system waiting for him at home: his two burly and adorable pit bulls, Lincoln and Noah.
Noah and Lincoln
Palace retired from the marine corps in 2017 after serving for 20 years. He came home to his wife, Vivian, and their two giant fur babies, Lincoln and Noah. However, as most military retirees, Palace had some adjusting to do with civilian life. What helped significantly make this transition is the support of his two rescue pit bulls.
Noah, the smaller of the two pups, was the runt of his litter. Palace picked him up after the breeder said he would be “discarded” as he will not grow big. Lincoln joined the family a few years later when his previous family had to re-home him. Together, Lincoln and Noah gave all the love and support they can muster to help their dad to the best of their abilities.
Massive love and support
According to Palace, Noah is like an “old soul.” He can sense right away when Palace is having a bad day. Noah knows that a good snuggle helps improves his dad’s mood. Meanwhile, Lincoln is the vivacious one. He loves going on walks with his parents and play rough with his dad.
Apart from the special relationship Palace has with his two pups, he also shares with them how it feels to be stereotyped. Since Palace is a huge man, some people think that he is intimidating and unapproachable.
In some instances, when he was walking with his dogs, he saw others walking the other way instead. Just like how most pit bulls are stereotyped for their breed, Palace also feels how it is to be judged for his physical appearance.
Despite the misconceptions about him and his dogs, Palace couldn’t imagine his life without Lincoln and Noah. These two big babies make life more meaningful. The bond that they share is truly special.
